Le Metis- Journal pour Franco-et Métis-Colonisation du Manitoba 1876

Colonisation du Manitoba 1876 Présentation sur la jurisprudence en Français au Manitoba et sur l’Education par Elie Taisé

I present two articles, and summarize the first: the first concerns a presentation by M. Elie Taisé to the Metis and Franco-Manitobain readers about the importance of having language services in the territory, as this guarantees democracy, political representation and voice for legal, education, and other matters in which a platform for communicating demands and rights for Metis and franco-manitobains.The author outlines the difference between the franco-manitobains and the franco-Americans who have no legal recognition before the American Congress, courts, or other agencies of the government.

The second article, is not related to the first, but strongly emphasizes how the American people and their government disrespected and massacred the indigenous, in this case, referring to the killing of Chief Sitting Bull, a Dakota Sioux chief. The article calls for the disarming of the Indigenous tribes and the moving of them onto reserves, and taking away their rifles and horses , I presume, with the intention of preventing the Indigenous from waging war against the white colonizing armies.
